The Environmental Youth Corp. (EYC) internship program is well known and used by Canada's environmental employers and post-secondary graduates.
The International Environmental Youth Corp. (IEYC) also assists youth in developing work-related skills marketable to Canadian employers engaged in international and/or science and technology-based work.
Employers have discovered many benefits in hiring interns, and ECO Canada through internship funders, can provide environmental businesses with up to $12 000 in wage subsidies to support an intern position. This program reduces the risk involved with hiring a young professional, while also allowing talented graduates to get a head start in their environmental careers.
For applications, eligibility requirements, and more information on Environmental Careers Organization Canada (ECO) Canada’s EYC internship opportunities, sign in to ECO Canada's website as an Employer and click on “Hire an Intern.”
The International Environmental Youth Corp (IEYC) program is managed and funded by Environment Canada (EC) but delivered by the Environmental Careers Organization Canada (ECO). ECO reviews and approves internship applications from environmental companies, maintains a database of applications from Canadian youth, matches qualified youth, and reports to EC.

Environmental employers recognize that their organization’s success is dependant upon having a top-quality staff. With growing labour shortages and increased competition for people, it is critical that Canadian environmental companies have human resource management strategies that help them recruit and retain the best employees.
