The Winnipeg Foundation - Grants to Registered Charities

This program provides grants to registered charities and may be awarded on a matching basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Registered charitable organizations that undertake charitable, educational or cultural activities that will improve the quality of life in Manitoba. Projects already completed, annual fundraising or deficit reduction are not eligible.

Summary

DESCRIPTION

Applicants must establish that there is:

  • a need for the project,
  • that the project will benefit primarily the people of Winnipeg and,
  • that other funding for the project is unavailable.

Preference is given to projects which:

  • benefit the whole community;
  • encourage more efficient use of community resources;
  • demonstrate new approaches and techniques in the solution of community problems;
  • promote co-operation and sharing among organizations;
  • promote volunteer participation; and,
  • strengthen agencies’ management capabilities.

Grants may be awarded for special projects or one-time capital assistance.

DEADLINE

There are three deadlines for receipt of applications:

  • December 30th for consideration in May
  • April 30th  for consideration in September
  • September 30th for consideration in February
  • Major capital campaign requests will be dealt with in April of each year.  Applications must be received by December 30th.
