Sales to the U.S. Department of Defense and NASA

Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) provides Canadian exporters with unparalleled access to the U.S. aerospace and defense market.

CCC offers specialized contracting services for exporters selling to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and NASA. When Canadian companies sell through CCC, the Corporation assumes the role of Prime Contractor, and can help firms register to sell their products and services to the U.S. federal government and NASA.

CCC contracts transacted under the Defense Production Sharing Arrangement (DPSA) or the Defense Development Sharing Agreement provide the U.S. DoD and NASA Prime Contractor Solution programs with a comprehensive guarantee of contract performance backed by the Government of Canada.

Canadian firms selling outside of Canada.

Summary

Participation in the DoD and NASA programs by Canadian contractors with the requisite technical capability is welcomed.

CCC's involvement as prime contractor can result in Canadian contactors obtaining favourable contract terms, including a reduction or waiver of bid and performance bonds, and payment guarantees.

Canadian exporters selling through CCC benefit from amended U.S. government procurement rules that reflect the Government of Canada's involvement in the process such as: 

• waiver of U.S. cost accounting standards for contracts;
• waiver of requirements for submitting cost and pricing data;
• waiver of some of the regulations of the Buy American Act;
• duty-free entry for goods and services.

The acquisition policies of the U.S. DoD specify that all defence purchases from Canada above the US$100 000 must be transacted through the CCC.
