Fair Labelling Practices Program

The Fair Labelling Practices Program administers and enforces the non-health and safety food components of the Food and Drugs Act and the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act.

Activities of the Program include:

  • investigating consumer and industry complaints;
  • developing programs designed to encourage compliance with the provisions of the respective Acts; and
  • developing overall consumer protection policies for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency ( CFIA).

Eligibility Criteria

All food plants and importers in Canada which are not federally registered, and all foods which are manufactured, packaged, labelled or advertised by food retailers and restaurateurs.
