This program is designed for lodges and outfitters who provide services to clients who participate in hunting activities and is administered by Wildlife and Ecosystem Protection Branch and Regional Operations under the Licensing Advisory Committee.

Eligibility Criteria

This program provides for the allocation of non-resident (non-Canadian) hunting licences for black bear, moose, deer and caribou to qualified Licensed Tourism Operators (lodges and outfitters).

Summary

The intent of the program is to manage the number of operations in each Game Hunting Area to ensure there is a sufficient land and resource base to support each operation.

In addition, the system regulates the number of non-resident hunters by means of an allocated quota of hunting licences to each operator. This ensures that harvest is within sustainable limits and that there is not undue competition with the interests of resident hunters.

Quotas

To retain quotas, operators must utilize a prescribed portion of their allocations. Quotas that become available due to non-use are re-allocated to existing or new operators according to prescribed guidelines.
