Accounts Receivable Insurance covers up to 90% of your export business against commercial risks, such as your customer refusing to pay.

Premium rates vary based on a variety of factors including products or services sold, shipping location, and terms of payment. Coverage can be flexible to accommodate your unique needs.

Eligibility Criteria

Any Canadian business that exports goods or services can apply.

Summary

Accounts Receivable Insurance from Export Development Canada (EDC) can protect your business against risks such as:

  • contract cancellation;
  • refusal to accept the goods;
  • bankruptcy or insolvency;
  • cancellation of import or export permits;
  • currency transfer; and
  • war, revolution, or insurrection. 

An initial set-up fee applies and premiums are payable monthly based on sales volumes during that month.

If you do have a collection problem, EDC has a simple and effective claims and recoveries process.
