Mineral Exploration Assistance Program

The Manitoba Mineral Exploration Assistance Program (MEAP) provides financial assistance for non-fuel mineral exploration in Manitoba. This assistance program is designed to increase exploration and to stimulate activities that may lead to the development of new mines. The program is available to companies or individuals proposing exploration projects in Manitoba. 

The financial assistance is for: 

  • 25% of approved eligible exploration expenditures to a maximum of $200,000 per recipient per fiscal year.
  • 35% of approved eligible exploration expenditures to a maximum of $200,000 per recipient per fiscal year for the Lynn Lake/Leaf Rapids, Snow Lake area and the Northern Superior/other Northern areas. 

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for assistance the applicant must: 

  • have the legal right to carry out exploration on the project property for which assistance is being sought
  • to be registered, or become registered to conduct business in Manitoba within 30 days of Manitoba's written notification of approval for assistance allocation.
  • be in compliance with Manitoba Acts and Regulations.
