Sound Recording Production Funding

This program is designed to encourage culturally relevant and commercially viable production activity in the Manitoba sound recording industry by supporting costs associated with total. recording budgets. To encourage development of the Manitoba sound recording industry’s infrastructure which will increase production marketability and upgrade skills.

Summary

The former Sound Recording Production Fund and the Demo Recording Fund have now been combined into one new program, sharing one set of guidelines and one application. The new Sound Recording Production Fund offers funding at three levels:

  • Level 1 is the former Demo Production Fund and encourages the production of demo recordings of two or more songs to be used for calling card purposes. Financial support is available through the means of a contribution of up to $2000.
  • Level 2 encourages the production of recordings of three or more songs to be used for promotional purposes or released for sale through any and all mediums. Production support is available up to a maximum of $7500.
  • Level 3 encourages the production of full length CD projects for commercial release. Production support is in the form of a loan commitment of up to a maximum of $20,000.

All projects will be submitted to a jury for review. Projects will be juried on the basis of quality of music, lyrics, vocals, musicianship, originality and the marketing plan.
