The Institute for Marine Biosciences (NRC-IMB) is one of six National Research Council Canada (NRC) laboratories committed to improving the economic performance of Canadian industry through biotechnology research. NRC-IMB focuses on research that will promote the growth and diversification of Canada's aquaculture industry and the development of genomics/bioinformatics technologies.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Canadian industry;
  • universities;
  • other government departments.

NRC-IMB also collaborates and does work for foreign companies, universities and foreign government agencies and departments.

Summary

NRC-IMB's research program includes:

  • aquaculture: fish and shellfish health, nutrition and husbandry;
  • natural toxins: analytical methods, toxin detection kits, Certified Reference Materials Program;
  • advanced research technologies: genomics, bioinformatics, proteomics, advanced mass spectrometry.
