Summary

The University of Manitoba's Technology Transfer Office (TTO) is the designated institutional manager of intellectual property (IP) for the University. The TTO is a facilitator of commercialization of university-based research, while developing and maintaining partnerships between the university community, government and industry. The TTO works closely with researchers in addressing the University's research and technology commercialization strategy, as well as:

  • Advising on intellectual property issues;
  • Evaluation and assessment of commercialization opportunities;
  • Negotiation of licencing transactions and start-up term sheets;
  • Marketing and intellectual property assessments;
  • Developing and administering a start-up company program for commercialization of technology; and
  • Royalty/spin-off equity management and administration.
