Statistics Canada conducts the International Travel Survey and analyses and disseminates its results. This continuous survey collects monthly census counts of vehicles and passengers entering or re-entering Canada by country of origin and mode, as well as quarterly data on characteristics of international travelers between Canada and other countries, including expenditures by Canadian residents on trips abroad and by visitors to Canada.
The International Travel Survey data are broken down by countries visited and are available as a national figure as well as provincial and territorial figures. When the sample size is large enough, data is also available at the tourism region and the Census Metropolitan Area levels. The same data is available for each state of the United States and each country other than the United States.
To get more information on the survey or some statistics you may visit Statistics Canada's Web site.
Costs may be applicable in obtaining this data. The data are available through the CANSIM II database.
