Tourism - Canadian Travel Survey

The Canadian Travel Survey (CTS) is conducted by Statistics Canada on behalf of the Canadian Tourism Commission and the ten provincial governments. The CTS, is conducted as a supplement to Statistics Canada's monthly Labour Force Survey.

Summary

Socio-demographic information about travelers

• household size.

Information about trips

• number of trips;
• origin;
• destination;
• distance;
• duration;
• mode of transportation;
• purpose;
• accommodation;
• activities;
• travel expenditures.

Costs

There are a number of products and services available from the Canadian Travel Survey, such as: travel profiles, micro-data files, customized tabulations, CANSIM II and a Web site. Except for the Web site, fees are structured on a cost-recovery basis.
