This program funds projects that protect or improve fish stocks, enhance fish habitat, or provide fisheries education.
Eligibility Criteria
ORGANIZATIONS
Such as:
- Fish and game associations
- Community groups, associations, service clubs
- Local government agencies, business organizations
- Conservation and environmental groups
- Academia and/or school groups
PROJECTS
Projects must:
- Be environmentally and technically sound
- Result in fisheries that are sustainable, biologically and economically
- Improve recreational angling opportunities in Manitoba
Eligible Activities
Project examples include:
- Create pools and riffles for spawning and rearing young
- Remove obstructions or build fishways to ease passage
- Improve lake habitat and reduce winter fish kills through aeration
- Watershed management projects
- Fisheries research projects
Summary
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
- There is a $25,000 cap per project per year.
- Special projects which require funding in excess of this cap will be considered, however proponents are encouraged to investigate funding contributions from other sources.
