Western Economic Diversification Canada's (WD) Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP) assists people living in the Winnipeg area who have a disability and are interested in pursuing self-employment goals.
The EDP supports the federal government's ongoing commitment to help reduce barriers and increase self-employment opportunities for Canadians with disabilities.
Eligibility Criteria
The Winnipeg EDP is specifically designed to benefit individuals living in Winnipeg who have a disability and want to open their own business or need support for an existing one.
Summary
In Winnipeg, the Independent Living Resource Centre (ILRC) delivers the EDP on behalf of WD. It provides a range of business support services to entrepreneurs with disabilities, including:
- coordinating/facilitating partnerships of cross disability organizations in support of entrepreneurs with disabilities;
- assistance in preparing business plans;
- peer support and networking;
- facilitating partnerships to assist clients to access financing to help start or expand a business;
- provide access to entrepreneurial training;
- one-on-one consulting services for businesses in operation and/or businesses in development.
