The Women's Enterprise Centre of Manitoba (WEC) is a non-profit* organization funded by Western Economic Diversification Canada and dedicated to helping entrepreneurial women start and grow their businesses. The WEC offers innovative support and opportunities throughout Manitoba, including business advice, seminars, and business loans.
The Government of Canada is investing $544,000 towards launching an initiative that will provide women entrepreneurs in western Canada with enhanced opportunities to grow and expand their businesses by accessing domestic or international supply chains.
Applicants can be sole proprietors, partnerships or corporations, but businesses have to be 50% or more woman-owned and controlled.
The head office of the business must be located in Manitoba.
Eligible activities are the establishment, the purchase or the expansion of a business in Manitoba.
Business advice is provided on subjects such as new business feasibility, business plan development, start-up procedures, marketing strategies, and expansion planning.
