Employers can participate in the program in four ways:

Co-operative Education Tax Credit (CETC) - Hire co-op education students for 10 or more consecutive weeks and you can be eligible for a tax credit equal to 10 percent of each student’s salary and wages (net of government assistance) up to $1,000 per placement.

Co-operative Graduate Hiring Incentive (COG-HI) - Hire one or more recent co-op education graduates and you may be eligible to receive a Co-op Grad Hiring Incentive (COGHI) equal to 5 per cent of the new employee’s net wages and salary in each of the first two full years of employment to a maximum of $2,500 for each year.

Journeypersons Hiring Incentive (J-HI) - Hire one or more recent apprenticeship graduates and, if you've also participated in hiring an apprentice, you may be eligible to receive a Journeyperson Hiring Incentive equal to 5 per cent of the new employee's net wages and salary in each of the first two full years of employment to a maximum of $2,500 for each year.

Advanced-Level Apprentices Hiring Incentive (ALA-HI) - The value of the credit equals 5% of wages paid to the Advanced-Level apprentice for work performed in Manitoba, net of other government assistance received or receivable by the employer. The maximum credit for one apprentice completing one level is $2,500. There is no limit on the number of apprentices in respect of whom the employer can apply.

The NEYC internships are available to companies who hire a recent graduate into a position that provides training and experience in an environmental role. The subsidy is 33% of the intern’s salary, to a maximum of $8,000.
 

The IEYC internships are available to companies who hire a recent graduate into a position that provides training and experience in an environmental role and some international exposure. The subsidy is 40% of the intern’s salary, to a maximum of $12,000.

The interns are employees of these organizations and the federal government supports this program through financial contributions from the Youth Employment Strategy initiative. The Small Business Internship Program provides small and medium-sized enterprises financial support to hire a post secondary student intern to assist them in their adoption of e-business strategies to increase their productivity and competitiveness.  The Government of Canada will reimburse 75% of the eligible wages and related expenses such as statutory employee benefits, up to a total of $10,000. Your firm is responsible for covering other expenses such as fringe benefits and overhead costs. Support will be available for twelve weeks.

This Program is designed to help employers and workers avert temporary layoffs. The program provides income support to workers eligible for Employment Insurance benefits and who are willing to work a temporary reduced work week when there is a reduction in the normal level of business activity that is beyond the control of the employer. Work-Sharing agreements must have a minimum duration of six weeks. For new agreements beginning on or after April 3, 2011, the maximum initial Work-Sharing agreement duration is twenty-six weeks with a possible extension up to twelve weeks.
